School starts every day at 8:00 am. You may bring your student(s) as
early as 7:30 am. Classes end for half-day K4 students at 12:30 pm.
All other classes end at 3:00 pm.
Yes. All students are required to wear uniforms. Basic outfits
include khaki or blue pants and white, blue, or yellow shirts with a collar
(button-up or polo) for guys. Girls are permitted to wear pants, shirts,
skorts, or jumpers with a shirt with a collar. Tennis shoes are
permissible.
Yes. At this time, the bus route runs only toward Charleston. We
go as far as Patrick Street Plaza and we do come through Kanawha City. If
you are interested, please fill out the Request for Transportation form and
contact the office for times and stops. If we have a greater interest from
families above Marmet (toward Montgomery) we will discuss making accommodations
for that.
At this point and time, the Academy serves lunch every day at noon. We
get our lunches from Bob Evans, Gino's, Wendy's, Taco Bell, and Kroger.
The cost for lunches is located on the fee schedule.
Yes and no. The Academy always starts the year at the same time as
Kanawha County schools. However, we have typically let out at a different
time for the summer. We will send a calendar to all accepted students with
scheduled times off. When inclement weather hits, you will typically see
the Academy's name on the news with info about closings and delays. If you
do not happen to see or hear our name, we will follow the same info as Kanawha
County.
LFCA will accept students up to the 6th grade depending on enrollment.
We do have a K4 (Kindergarten for 4 year olds) and a K5. We have combined
classrooms (K4 and K5 together; 1st and 2nd; 3rd and 4th; 5th and 6th) and the
numbers average from 3 - 5 per level.
